Overview

Lake Ellis is one of the mountain lakes found on My. Kenya in Kenya Central region. It is about 5-6hrs from Nairobi to the hike starting point. It is a beautiful magestic glacier lake on the eastern slopes of My. Kenya. Best hiking route to access lake Ellis is through Chogoria gate. Other features through the hike is the famous Nithi Falls, lush forests and mountainous views. The scenery is picturesque and and hike is a one day hike. Elevation gain from the gate to the lake is 505m to high of 3,455m ASL and a low of 2,950m ASL. It is a moderate hike and takes about 6-8hrs from start to end and covers a distance of 15-19kms inclusive of Nithi Falls. It is beginner friendly. Hike requires good physical fitness.
